VinUni officially receives applications for the PhD in Computer Science Scholarship

Scholarship

  • Full sponsorship of PhD program tuition and monthly allowance up to 20,000,000 VND/month.
  • Study duration: 3 – 4 years, full time.

Conditions and Application Documents

Admission conditions:

Applicants for the PhD in Computer Science program must meet the following conditions:

  • Have graduated with a Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree with honors or higher in Computer Science or related fields;
  • Have research experience demonstrated through a master’s thesis of a research-oriented training program; or published scientific articles or reports; or have worked for 2 years (24 months) or more as a lecturer or researcher at training establishments and science and technology organizations;
  • Have a draft research outline and expected study and research plan for the entire course.

English requirements for applicants:

  • Possessing an English certificate of IELTS 6.5 or higher (or equivalent) within 2 years (24 months) before the date of enrollment or graduation from master’s and/or university degrees in programs taught in English.
  • For candidates who do not satisfy the above conditions, candidates need to:
    • At the time of admission: candidates need to have an IELTS of 5.5 or higher or equivalent as prescribed in Appendix II of Circular No. 18/2021/TT-BGDDT.
    • Within 12 months from the admission date: candidates need to supplement a valid IELTS 6.5 or higher certificate (or equivalent).
    • Meet the conditions of the research outline and research experience.

Admission application documents

  • Statement of Purpose (maximum 2 pages) answers the questions: (1) Why did the candidate choose to study for a PhD?; (2) Reasons for choosing VinUni; (3) Share the candidate’s research experience and passion; (4) Future plans after graduating with a PhD.
  • CV summarizing personal information in English
  • Official transcript of most recent level of study – Undergraduate or Postgraduate
  • English certificate IELTS (IE Academic) 6.5 or higher, or other equivalent certificates valid for 02 years
  • 02 letters of recommendation from Professors/Lecturers who have guided the candidate
    Link to the source of published scientific articles or scans of published articles (if any)

Admission Process Information

  • Enrollment target: 10 graduate students for the 2024 – 2025 school year
  • Admissions method: Applicants are required to submit applications according to the instructions HERE . Qualified candidates will be invited to a Technical Interview round with VinUni Professors. Admission decisions will be made by the Admissions Committee and the Program Director will notify the candidates of the results.
  • Time frame:
    • Application deadline for Phase 1: 15th of every month, until June 15, 2024.
    • Application deadline for Phase 2: 15th of every month, until September 15, 2024.
    • Interview & receive results: 01 month after submitting application.
    • Estimated admission time: October 2024.
