Agile Innovation – Innovative, fast adaptive and leadership brainstorming

December 4, 2020

Another new subject that VinUni has included in the curriculum is Agile Innovation. Simply put, this is a broad-spectrum subject that helps young students to have a range of skills to become an excellent leader – observing, questioning, abstracting, problem-solving and creative thinking.

As explained by Professor Duong Nguyen Vu, Honorary Dean at the College of Engineering & Computer Science, the difference between leaders and ordinary people is their vision and ability to see problems before they occur.

If people merely look at issues on the surface level, the future leaders here must know what is wrong, what is the critical information, why did it occur and, what is the trend of development?

That is their job to ideate, find solutions, create new innovative solutions to contribute to society. This excellent university will train its students to think critically, brainstorm effectively about the simplest of issues.

During an Agile Innovation lesson, students may be asked to draw a landmark picture of their life’s turning point. Everyone’s way of thinking is different, but students here need to ask themselves important questions, find the structure and meaning of their own story. Students will then elaborate their landmark picture, explain the story and the lesson behind. The lecturer is not the one marking their work; the students will evaluate each other.

Agile Innovation is a new subject in Vietnam and currently only taught in a few prestigious universities around the world. The traditional way of learning is often focused on theory, but VinUni aims to change the thinking process.
