VinUniversity Medical Simulation Centre Has Organized the First Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Training Course for External Clients in 2020.

July 31, 2020

VinUniversity Medical Simulation Center (VMSC) has been recognized by the American Heart Association (AHA) as an International Training Center (ITC) for HeartSaver, Basic life support (BLS), Advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS), and Pediatric advanced life support (PALS) courses since May 2018.

Up to now, VMSC has provided AHA’s certificates for 552 attendees in AHA lifesaving courses including BLS, ACLS and PALS for Vinmec hospitals and other private and public hospitals across Vietnam.
July 24-25, 2020 marks an important milestone of VMSC because we have organized the 1st BLS provider course for external participants in 2020. Totally, there were 23 trainees who are non-health staff from different medical equipment and security companies in Vietnam.

Through the BLS provider course, attendees learned skills of high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for victims of all ages and practiced delivery of these skills both as a single rescuer and as a member of a multirescuer team. They could detect cardiac arrest, activate the emergency response early, and respond quickly and confidently.

After this training course, 23 participants successfully completed the course and they will receive AHA provider certificate that is valid for 2 years. Many participants shared that although they are not health staff but they realized the helpfulness of this course in both their work and life. With the skills and basic knowledge from this course, they could understand deeply about CPR and gain more confidence to provide consultancy for their clients when selling medical equipment. They also believe that they could practice high-quality CPR to save life of victims in the community if necessary.
