Chu Hoai Linh, a founding cohort student of the MBA Innovation & AI at VinUni, spent 3 years as a reporter for VTV’s Financial & Business News. With a background in Politics and Sociology, she entered economic journalism to analyze and narrate market movements from a multidimensional perspective. But along the way, one question began to shape her direction: Is observing enough to create the change I truly aspire to?
WHEN AN OBSERVER WANTS TO BECOME A CHANGEMAKER
During my years covering the banking and corporate sectors, I was exposed to major shifts in the economy: the COVID-19 period, policies accelerating digital transformation, the rise of new business models, and the earliest applications of AI in finance and banking.
These experiences made me realize that I no longer wanted to only reflect business stories – I wanted to directly contribute to creating new value: promoting more transparent communication of policies, supporting sustainable development, and applying AI in management to solve real-world problems in an effective and ethical way.
As that aspiration grew clearer, I began seeking a more structured academic foundation to equip myself with a management-technology perspective for the next stage of my journey.
THE MOMENT OF DECISION: LEARNING TO GO FURTHER
The decision to return to school came when I realized I wanted a true breakthrough in my career instead of continuing along the familiar loops of journalism. After four years of experiencing those work “cycles,” I felt the need for an academic environment challenging enough to help me reflect, access new resources, and strengthen my capabilities for longer-term roles in the future.
It was this combination of practical experience and a renewed motivation to learn that helped me recognize the right moment to “keep learning in order to go further,” and the MBA program at VinUni naturally became the next step on that path.
A STEADY STEP FOR A LONG-TERM JOURNEY
What I value most during my time at VinUni is the shift in my way of thinking: the ability to analyze complex problems more deeply and to learn from the diverse, interdisciplinary perspectives of my classmates.
Rather than creating a completely new direction, the MBA has helped me clarify the path I’ve always been drawn toward: understanding my own strengths, identifying the gaps I need to develop, and shaping the long-term values I want to build in a management-technology environment. The program has also helped me connect my journalism experience with my goal of becoming a bridge between communication, business, and technology, especially as AI continues to reshape industries.
