Sports injuries pose a significant challenge for athletes across all levels, encompassing sprains, strains, fractures, and ligament tears. Prompt and accurate diagnosis plays a pivotal role in facilitating effective treatment and rehabilitation, enabling athletes to regain peak performance swiftly and safely.
Ultrasound and MRI serve as invaluable diagnostic tools, providing detailed insights into the musculoskeletal system, empowering healthcare professionals to make informed decisions.
In this seminar, we embark on a captivating journey into the realm of ultrasound and MRI, exploring their indispensable applications in the dynamic field of sports medicine.
Throughout the course, we will delve into the fundamentals of image acquisition, interpretation, and the unique considerations specific to sports-related injuries. Additionally, interactive workshops featuring case studies will be conducted to facilitate practical learning. We will also delve into emerging trends, as well as address the challenges and limitations associated with these imaging modalities.
Distinguished experts will lead this course, offering their wealth of knowledge in the realm of sports medicine, including:
- Professor J. Antonio Bouffard: A renowned radiologist from Department of Radiology, Detroit Medical Center, Harper University Hospital, Michigan, USA. Prof. Bouffard specializes in musculoskeletal radiology and brings valuable insights to our course on ultrasound in sports imaging. With extensive experience as a trusted consultant for professional athletes and sports teams, he offers a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and considerations in this field. Prof. Bouffard will share his expertise in advanced imaging techniques and their application in optimizing the care of sports injuries.
- Associate Professor Steven Wong Bak Siew: An esteemed Musculoskeletal Radiologist with expertise in Sports and Cartilage Imaging. He currently serves as the Head of Radiology at Sengkang General Hospital and as the Chair of the Musculoskeletal Radiology Subsection of the Singapore Radiological Society. Prof. Wong’s involvement in international societies and committees, such as the Asian Musculoskeletal Society and the Society of Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM), positions him as a leading figure in the field of radiology and imaging informatics.
- Associate Professor Bui Van Giang: With many years of experience in practicing and teaching musculoskeletal ultrasound, he has delivered numerous reports and lectures on diagnosis and pain management in musculoskeletal diseases. Patients sometimes refer to him as the “pain reliever” for his ability to alleviate their suffering.
- Professor Tran Trung Dung: A nationally and internationally renowned orthopedic surgeon. His achievements span various fields, notably orthopedics in sports medicine, limb reconstruction, minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, and more. His team consists of highly specialized doctors in the field of musculoskeletal and sports medicine, focusing on sports performance evaluation, functional recovery, and comprising an exceptional team trusted by elite athletes in the country.
