Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program (VISHC-REU)
During the summer break from July 1st to July 15th, the VinUni-Illinois Smart Health Center (VISHC) will organize a research experience program for university students (VISHC-REU) with many meaningful and beneficial activities.
One of the main tasks of the VinUni-Illinois Smart Health Center (VISHC) is to train the next generation of workforce to promote the field of smart healthcare.
Built by excellent medical research and education centers, this summer program is an opportunity for students to learn and work with the most successful researchers in this field. The program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in the most advanced research techniques and technologies and to introduce them to the latest developments in medical research.
Specifically, from July 1st to August 15th, 2023, VISHC will organize the VISHC-REU program to support VinUni students to actively participate in research in any field funded by VISHC. The program includes Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Vision, NLP, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Clinical and Molecular Biology.
The program will last for 6 weeks, for about 30 university students. The VinUni Summer Program is open to students who have completed at least one year of study in any field related to healthcare. Students will be selected through a competitive registration process, focusing on academic achievements, research experience, and passion for healthcare.
In particular, more than 20 Vietnamese and American lecturers will participate, with 15 research projects focused on the cutting-edge fields of technology today. This is considered a unique experience for VinUni students that other universities may not have.
During this time, students will participate in research projects, workshops, and practical work sessions, focusing on developing research skills and accessing real-world issues in healthcare. The program will include lectures and workshops from leading researchers in the field, as well as practical work sessions and research projects in various fields of healthcare. Students will have the opportunity to work with various technologies.
The main objectives of the program are:
– Connect students with lecturers and advisors who will guide students in completing health-related projects.
– Help students develop research skills and access real-world healthcare issues.
– Provide students with a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and the most successful researchers in the field.
– Train students to prepare scientific posters and speeches, especially presenting their research projects at scientific conferences.
At the end of the program, each student will present their work at the VinUni campus. Through these experiences, students not only develop research skills but also communication skills. Students can explore their areas of interest, conduct research, and build relationships with scholars. If students are interested in the integrated 3+2 and 4+1 programs at VinUni, the VISHC-REU program may provide that opportunity.
Application period: April 1, 2023 – May 15, 2023
