Congratulations to VinUniversity 3D Technology in Medicine Center for Winning First Place in the Medical Technovation 2022

Rising above 80 excellent teams across the country, the VinUniversity 3D Technology in Medicine Center’s product was chosen to be among the 5 products competing in the Final Round of Medical Technovation 2022. In the end, the Center’s “Patient-specific Instrumentation (PSI)” triumphantly took First Place. This is a technique and invention never before done in Vietnam, and no similar research has ever been published worldwide.

The “Patient-specific Instrumentation (PSI)” is a surgical support tool made with 3D printing, based on the personalized needs of each patient. With this tool, doctors can identify the exact location for surgery, perform surgeries more accurately, and limit unnecessary damage to patients.

This device has been used by doctors at Vinmec Center for Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine in joint replacement surgeries at Vinmec Times City International Hospital. Dozens of surgeries have been successfully performed using this personalized surgical navigation tool, increasing surgical accuracy rate to over 98%, thereby reducing patients’ pain, allowing them to quickly return to exercising, limiting recurrence rate, and ensuring post-surgery stability.

This “Patient-specific Instrumentation (PSI)” is chosen to represent Medtech and Innovative Healthcare at TECHFEST 2022 – a competition organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology together with various ministries, agencies, localities, and socio-political organizations to organize.

The Medical Technovation 2022 competition is organized by Medtech and Innovative Healthcare – one of 30 specialized villages within the National Startup framework – TECHFEST VIETNAM 2022. This event aims to establish a network of healthcare experts, connect resources, and support medical startups.
