A Dialogue with VinFuture Prize 2023 Laureates

December 22, 2023

Part 1: Green energy & environmental sustainability

On December 21st, world-renowned scientists including: Professor Martin Andrew Green (Australia), Professor Stanley Whittingham (USA), Professor Rachid Yazami (Morocco), Professor Akira Yoshino (Japan) – Laureates of the VinFuture Grand Prize and Professor. Susan Solomon (USA) – Laureat of the VinFuture Prize for Female Innovators were present at VinUni’s Auditorium to participate in “A Dialogue with VinFuture Prize 2023 Laureates”.

The program was held immediately after the Awards Ceremony, where the new Laureates of the 3rd VinFuture Prize shared about the research and inventions that helped them win the noble award. In this session, our scientists share stories about their research journey with green energy and sustainable development. They also answer questions about the decision to research solar cells and lithium-ion batteries and the causes of ozone layer depletion from Vietnamese youth, young scientists and policy makers, so that we can join hands globally to help protect the environment through regenerating and storing energy.

Part 2: Innovations in Agriculture and Healthcare

In Part 2 of the program with the theme “Innovations in Agriculture and Healthcare,” lecturers, students, young scientists engaged in discussions with the special laureates of VinFuture 2023 from developing countries, as well as laureates in emerging fields.

Instead of the audience asking questions and the guests answering like usual, today, our scientists received a special request to reverse the questioning process to inspire students: “What is the biggest concern in your scientific research career?”

From that, the scientists shared their success stories that stemmed from initial consecutive failures, ways to overcome pressures and self-disappointments, moments when they only wanted to return to their “comfort zone.” At the same time, the scientists also advised the students, urging them to always be determined, committed to their choices, learn how to face failures and balance their lives.
