Project Information

As agriculture faces increasing challenges such as labor shortages, the need for higher productivity, and sustainability requirements, the adoption of intelligent automation systems is becoming essential. However, agricultural environments are inherently complex, unstructured, and dynamic, posing significant challenges for conventional robotic systems.

This project focuses on developing an intelligent biomimetic humanoid robotic system specifically designed for agricultural settings. By integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with flexible mechanical design, the robot aims to adapt to diverse real-world conditions and assist human workers in physically demanding or precision-intensive tasks.

The proposed system is expected to perform tasks such as crop inspection, harvesting of delicate produce, precision spraying, and transportation of agricultural goods. The biomimetic design enables more effective interaction with natural environments while ensuring safety for both humans and ecosystems.

The project ultimately aims to develop adaptive robotic solutions that enhance productivity, reduce labor risks, and contribute to more sustainable agricultural practices.

Research team includes: Asst.Prof. Thai Mai Thanh (Principal Investigator) | Dr. Nguyen Vu Linh | Dr. Do Tho Truong | Dr. Nguyen Phi Long | Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc

Research Objectives

The project focuses on the following key objectives:

(i) Design and develop biomimetic humanoid robots tailored for agricultural environments

(ii) Develop AI algorithms for real-time perception and adaptive decision-making

(iii) Enable precise manipulation for tasks such as harvesting and handling delicate crops

(iv) Ensure safe interaction between robots, humans, and natural environments

(v) Improve operational efficiency and sustainability through intelligent automation

Through these efforts, the project aims to advance next-generation agricultural robotics that are adaptive, safe, and capable of operating effectively in complex real-world environments.
