Autonomous Multi-Robot EV Charging with AI Optimization and Renewable Energy (AIREC)

Successful applicants will join the project as Research Assistant / Master’s Student / PhD Student / Postdoctoral Researcher at the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS)VinUniversity.

Project Information

The AIREC project focuses on the design and prototyping of electric vehicle (EV) charging robots that are capable of autonomously moving to the location of EVs to perform charging without direct human intervention.

The robots are designed to manage their energy autonomously, combining solar power (PV), battery storage, and the power grid, to ensure efficient and flexible charging under different operating conditions.

In addition, the project develops artificial intelligence (AI)-based optimization methods to coordinate charging schedules among multiple robots, with the goal of reducing waiting time and improving operational efficiency in parking facilities and complex urban environments.

The project also aims to integrate digital twins, the Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity, and advanced wireless communication, enabling real-time monitoring and optimization of multi-robot operations.

Research Objectives

The core objectives of the project include:

(i) Designing and prototyping EV charging robots capable of autonomous movement, localization, and vehicle access.

(ii) Developing energy management systems for robots using a combination of solar power (PV), battery storage, and the power grid.

(iii) Developing AI algorithms to coordinate and optimize charging schedules among multiple robots in order to reduce waiting time and improve efficiency.

(iv) Integrating digital twins, IoT, cybersecurity, and advanced wireless communication for real-time system monitoring and optimization.

(v) Deploying and evaluating the system in parking facilities and complex urban environments.
