I. Financial Assistance & Grant

Value

Purpose 

To provide additional financial support for students facing unexpected financial hardship- such as sudden loss of family income, medical emergencies, or other unforeseen circumstances – ensuring that their education at VinUni is not disrupted due to financial challenges.

Eligibility

  • Be a current full-time VinUni student in good academic and disciplinary standing.
  • Experience verified unexpected financial hardship (e.g., sudden loss of income, medical emergencies, or other unforeseen events).
  • Demonstrate the financial impact on their ability to continue studying at VinUni.
  • Submit a complete Financial Aid application with all required supporting documents.

When to Apply? 

Applications are reviewed twice annually, in July and November.

Note

This bursary is supplementary support, intended to assist students after enrollment. It is independent from entry scholarships or initial financial aid packages granted at admission.

Purpose
  • Each year, outstanding students come close to achieving their dream of studying at VinUni, but the final 10%-20% of tuition remains an obstacle their families cannot overcome.
  • The Future Leader Grant removes this last barrier, opening the door for deserving young people to study at VinUni, thrive, realize their potential, and become impactful future leaders.
Eligibility
Applicants must satisfy ALL conditions below to be considered:
  • Have received a VinUni merit-based scholarship covering 80% or more of tuition.
  • Demonstrate verified financial hardship, indicating inability to cover the remaining 10–20% of tuition.
  • Have completed and submitted the Financial Aid Application with all required documents.
When to Apply
Applicants may apply for the Future Leader Grant after receiving their VinUni scholarship notification and before the official enrollment deadline of the academic year.
  • Applications submitted after the enrollment deadline will only be considered in exceptional circumstances with valid justification.
  • The Grant is processed on a rolling basis until available funding is fully allocated.
How to Apply
Applicants must complete the following steps:
  • Submit a Financial Aid Application via the designated VinUni application portal.
  • Provide required supporting documents per requested by the University for validation (Link for guidance).
  • Undergo financial assessment and eligibility review conducted by the authorized University committee.
  • Applicants will be notified of the final decision in writing once the review process is completed (normally within 15 working days from the date of submission).

Selection Criteria
  • Verified financial hardship preventing payment of remaining 10–20% tuition.
  • Strong motivation to enroll if supported.
  • Priority given to cases with stronger leadership potential (higher scholarship) first and and then to cases with more significant hardship
* Academic readiness/AACC attributes is already established through the merit-based scholarship award and will not be reassessed.
Expected deliverables/ requirement to continue to receive the funding
  • Maintain main entry scholaship (min cGPA 2.5). No violations of academic integrity.
  • Maintain Full-Time Enrollment Status (not applicable for leave of absence year).
  • Uphold the spirit of the grant, by actively contribute to the VinUni community through participation in student activities, volunteer work, leadership roles, or community engagement.
  • Write a letter of appreciation to the donor at the end of the year
  • Attend an annual donor appreciation event
* The cGPA requirement for retaining the combined scholarship/grant package shall follow the same retention standards as the Merit-based Scholarship.

Purpose 

To enable future leaders to shine by providing them with opportunities and support to showcase their talent and excellence at national and international competitions, conferences, and professional platforms.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet all of the following conditions:

  • Be a current full-time VinUni student in good academic and disciplinary standing;
  • Have been officially selected, invited, or qualified to participate in a national or international competition, conference, or equivalent showcase platform;
  • Demonstrate clear preparation, commitment, and readiness to represent VinUni professionally;
  • Provide documentation verifying participation or qualification.

When to Apply

  • Apply once official confirmation of acceptance/participation is received;
  • Submit at least 10 working days before the departure date;
  • Late applications reviewed only in exceptional cases.

  • Legitimacy and prestige of the national/international event or platform;
  • Student’s demonstrated readiness and potential to excel or contribute meaningfully:
  • Potential positive impact on the student’s growth and development – aligned with EXCEL attributes;
  • Professional representation of VinUni.

Expected deliverables/ requirement to continue to receive the funding

1. Provide Proof of Participation: Submit confirmation of attendance, participation certificate, or competition/conference completion proof.

2. Submit a Post-Event Reflection/Report: A brief report (1–2 pages) summarizing key learnings, outcomes, achievements, and how the experience contributed to personal or academic development.

3. Share Outputs/Deliverables (if applicable), i.e: presentation slides, posters, reserach abstracts, project outcomes, competition results.

4. Represent VinUni Professionally: Maintain appropriate behavior and uphold VinUni’s reputation throughout the event.

5. Acknowledge VinUni Support (as required): Include VinUni name/logo in presentations, posters, or profiles when appropriate and permitted by event guidelines.

6. Contribute to VinUni Outreach & Donor Engagement:

  • Provide content (photos, short quotes, or a brief testimonial) that may be used for VinUni’s communication channels, upon request.
  • Write a thank-you letter to the donor at the end of the year.
  • Attend the annual donor appreciation event (if invited).

Grant Revocation & Refund

If the student does not participate in the approved activity/event for any reason other than documented exceptional circumstances, the full amount of the Shine Grant must be returned to the University.

One-off (per approved global experience)

Purpose

To strengthen students’ global perspectives and capabilities by providing financial support for participation in international academic programs, study trips, conferences, cultural immersion activities, or global learning experiences.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Be a full-time VinUni student in good academic and disciplinary standing;
  • Be accepted, invited, or approved to participate in an international program, study trip, conference, or global learning activity;
  • Demonstrate clear goals related to global perspective, intercultural learning, or academic development.

When to Apply

  • Apply once official confirmation of acceptance/participation is received;
  • Submit at least 10 working days before the departure date;
  • Late applications reviewed only in exceptional cases.

Expected deliverables/ requirement to continue to receive the funding

1. Submit proof of participation (attendance letter, certificate, etc.).

2. Provide a post-activity reflection or report (key learnings, outcomes, impact).

3. Share deliverables if applicable (presentation, project outputs, conference materials).

4. Uphold professional conduct and represent VinUni appropriately during the activity.

5. Contribute to VinUni Outreach & Donor Engagement:

  • Provide content (photos, short quotes, or a brief testimonial) that may be used for VinUni’s communication channels, upon request.
  • Write a letter of appreciation to the donor at the end of the year
  • Attend the annual donor appreciation event.

Grant Revocation & Refund

If the student does not participate in the approved activity/event for any reason other than documented exceptional circumstances, the full amount of the Global Horizon Grant must be returned to the University.

Award Tenure

One-off (per approved community project)

Purpose 

To foster students’ compassion and social responsibility by supporting meaningful community service projects, volunteer initiatives, and local impact activities that address real needs in Vietnamese society.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Be a full-time VinUni student;
  • Propose a community service or social impact project with clear objectives and feasibility;
  • Demonstrate commitment to social responsibility and community engagement

When to Apply? 

  • Submit application before project start date;
  • Applications accepted on a rolling basis;
  • Late applications considered based on justification.

How to Apply?

  • Submit the proposal to FAO Office, email at: [email protected]

  • Undergo review by the authorized committee.
  • Receive written notification of approval once review is completed.
  • The result will be available within 5–7 working days (from the date when all required documents are fully submitted).

1. Submit proof of project implementation (photos, confirmation, beneficiary feedback).

2. Provide a completion report summarizing activities, outcomes, and community impact.

3. Share project outputs (materials, documentation, or event deliverables).

4. Maintain code of conduct and comply with all University guidelines throughout the project.

5. Contribute to VinUni Outreach & Donor Engagement:

  • Provide content (photos, short quotes, or a brief testimonial) that may be used for VinUni’s communication channels, upon request.
  • Write a letter of appreciation to the donor at the end of the year
  • Attend the annual donor appreciation event.

Grant Revocation & Refund

Purpose 

To free future leaders from worries about accommodation costs, ensuring they can focus on studying, growing, and thriving at VinUni.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be a full-time VinUni student;
  • Demonstrate financial hardship related to accommodation costs;
  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing.

When to Apply? 

  • Before the start of each semester;
  • Rolling review until funds are fully allocated.

How to Apply?

To support students’ basic nutritional needs so they can stay healthy, energized, and fully engaged in their academic journey.

  • Demonstrate financial hardship related to accommodation costs;
  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing.

This grant aims to support VinUni students who are participating in faculty-supervised research projects but face financial constraints that limit their ability to cover necessary research-related expenses. The funding helps ensure that students can fully engage in meaningful research opportunities without being hindered by financial barriers.

  • Have an approved research proposal or confirmation of participation in a faculty-supervised research project.
  • Demonstrate financial need for covering research-related expenses.

This grant is additional funding beyond the research support already provided by the Colleges/RISE Center for student research projects. As this grant is funded by the Giving to VinUni Foundation, applicants will be prioritized to utilize College/RISE research budgets first before accessing this external grant.

Purpose

The fund is established to provide essential financial resources that foster innovation activities among students, faculty, and researchers at VinUniversity (collectively referred to as Founders), and to support the realization of projects with the potential to create significant economic and social value.

Eligibility

  • Startup teams must include at least two (02) members who are current undergraduate or graduate students, alumni, faculty, or researchers at VinUniversity, serving as Founders or Co-Founders.
  • Each Founder may only apply for funding for one (01) project.
  • If a Founder withdraws from the project midway, the project team must notify E-Lab via email at least two weeks in advance and submit a transition plan that designates a Co-Founder or another team member to take over the project leadership role. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in the termination of funding.

When to apply? 

Rolling review until funds are fully allocated.

How to apply? 

  • Startups prepare a project proposal (including project description, activity plan, and financial plan). The financial plan must comply with the budget utilization principles.
  • The Evaluation Committee reviews and selects qualified proposals.
  • Funding decisions are announced (including the approved amount and the required project commitments).

Not applicable, as this type of funding is granted only once per recipient.

Grant Revocation & Refund

  • If a Founder withdraws from the project midway, the project team must notify E-Lab via email at least two weeks in advance and submit a transition plan that designates a Co-Founder or another team member to assume the project leadership role. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in the termination of funding.
  • This grant is intended solely for purposes directly related to the startup project and will be disbursed based on the objectives and deliverables agreed upon between the Founder and the Investment Committee. Any use of funds that deviates from the committed objectives may result in the expenditure being disallowed and the grant being reclaimed.
  • The funding may not be used for personal expenses such as project members’ salaries, housing rent, utilities, living costs, or any other personal expenditures not directly related to the project. E-Lab reserves the right to suspend or revoke funding if any violations are detected.

Purpose

This grant aims to support VinUni students who are participating in faculty-supervised research projects but face financial constraints that limit their ability to cover necessary research-related expenses. The funding helps ensure that students can fully engage in meaningful research opportunities without being hindered by financial barriers.

Eligibility

  • Be current VinUni students in good standing.
  • Have an official acceptance letter from a VinUni partner university.
  • Demonstrate financial need for the exchange period.
  • Not have received the Global Exchange Grant before (one-time support).

When to Apply? 

The Financial Aid Office will send a direct notification to students who have applied for an exchange program (based on the updated list provided by GE).

The Student Work-Study Program at VinUniversity is designed to provide students with opportunities to gain practical work experience, develop valuable skills, and contribute to the university community.   • Maintain satisfactory academic progress, as per university regulations.
  • Demonstrate financial need (if applicable) or meet department-specific requirements.

  • Must have achievements among one or more of the three distinct categories: Innovation, Impact, Core Value Integration.
